Foster care and Adoption Support Services
There are unique challenges that accompany participating in the foster care system and forming a family through adoption. Children in foster care are faced with tremendous loss and significant changes in all areas of life. Adopted children frequently experience difficulty bonding with their adoptive family due to issues of abandonment, abuse, neglect, guilt, grief and loss.
Our goal is to offer support and education to foster families, biological family members, and adoptive families throughout the life cycle. This can be done at various levels of intervention. We offer individual and family counseling for foster and adopted children, siblings, and parents. Our services also include small groups for foster and adoptive parents, as well as family consulting. Family consulting includes counseling, education, referrals, and advocacy for foster and adopted children and their families. At LCS, we honor every member of the foster and adoption triad- Biological family members, foster and adoptive families, and most crucially, the child.
